Myerstown PA, July 17th, 2010:
Saturday evening would feature the second night of All-Star Weekend
at the Cayuga County Fair Speedway and RevStar Co-Owner Carl Labonte
was geared up for competition..
Doug
Sherwood (Piscataway, NJ) who was coming off a strong runner up
finish in Friday evenings preliminary All Star event continued his
strong presence by winning dash #1 which would give him the pole
position for the feature event with Carl Labonte (Drummondville, Qc,
Canada) lining up outside front row. Labonte wasted no time getting
to the lead as Sherwood would have to fight off the challenges of
Mike Mahaney a Cayuga County Modified regular and Yannick Poirier
(Beloeil, Qc, Canada). Meanwhile National and Regional point leader
Mario Page (Hillsborough, NJ) was picking off STR's high and low as
he was clawing his way to the front on the black slick surface.

By
the midway point of the race Labonte was continuing to make flawless
laps along the inside jersey barrier as Page had raced his way to
third with Sherwood just in front. The duo would battle lap after
lap. Sherwood working the bottom and Page looking for grip up top.
While a great battle for the top five was brewing between Mahaney,
Poirier, Chris Stockham (Cicero, NY) in the Valvoline #3, Richie
Tobias (Hershey, PA), and Kyle Hieber (Langhorne, PA) .
With
the laps winding down Page went to the high side of Sherwood in turn
one, but Sherwood would slide up the track and close the door as
they went down into three, Page again went high and this time would
diamond off Sherwood and attacked the bottom going into one. As Page
took the preferred line of Sherwood, the two would make contact
causing the Kiwi Farms 33 to collect the previous nights winner
Richie Tobias Jr. (Hershey, PA). The final restart would see the #24
of Labonte hold off the challenges of Page and Mahaney with Poirier
and Stockham rounding out the top five.
