DEVASTATING FIRE AT BORGERS, WEEKEND UPDATES,

LINDA'S NEWS, ATLANTIC CITY, & 2009 AWARDS UPDATES

 (Issue 46 / 10.26.09)

Myerstown, PA - Oct. 26th, 2009 (issue 46):  The news from Saylorsburg was not something anyone wanted to hear. A tragic fire swept through the office complex at the speedway leveling the whole building which forced Borgers Speedway management to call their 2009 season complete. All track equipment was lost in the blaze and some of the fencing in turns 1 & 2 were damaged. This will leave 1 national event left on the racing schedule with Linda's closing the National touring season on the 6th or 7th, weather permitting.

Any news from Borgers will be relayed to everyone so you can make plans for your 2010 racing season. They would like to thank everyone  for their support in 2009.

Oakland Valley will present their Octoberfest this weekend with racing schedules being posted on their website. The event draws together some of the best racers in the area on the 1/5mi clay oval in Cuddebackville, NY.  www.ovrpdirtoval.com will get you the times and events scheduled.

Lenny Sammons has posted all the info required for your plans for the AC Indoor Race in January, 2010. Go to www.aarn.com and hit the AC Indoor side link. Entry, schedule and lodging info can be found there. From the looks of the preview, there will be NO time trials for the Slingshots this race. If you are planning on entering ,please do not delay, they are putting an entry limit on the Slingshots and karts again for this event. All NJ state laws regarding racing will be in effect.14 year old minimum, 2 year belt limit (which will be Jan 2008 stamped), fuel cell required with foam insert. Fueling must be done outdoors with random fuel checks being taken. All Slingshot weight, engine and tech rules will be put in place. Trailer parking will be held on Thurs from 5 to 9 PM. The garage will reopen at 8 AM on Friday for parking and tech. Please remember there is a Gambler's Bonus of $ 50 added to your entry if you are taking the offer. If the winner has signed up he will win 1500 instead of 500. NO FUEL IN TRAILERS. IF CAUGHT, YOU WILL BE DONE FOR THE WEEKEND.

The next Strapped In TV show will be aired live on Weds Oct 28th. The guests will include Big Diamond announcer Brett Deyo, Shellhammers announcer Mark Stufflet, Grandview roving announcer Pete Knappenberger, Reading and Lanco announcer Barry Angstadt. Should be a great night with live viewing beginning at 9 PM and the live stream at www.bctv.org. Questions can be called in to 610-378-0426 during show time or by emailing me at starterone@aol.com

Linda's Speedway will be giving lap money and other additional funds to the racers during the running of the Battle by the Interstate 50 on Nov 6th.If you still want to make a contribution to the event as a lap donor, special awards donor, please let me know and I will forward the info to Tom Chorpenning if you haven't done so already.

Special Awards nominees are currently being worked on with the banquet 2 months away, we are hoping to make this another stellar affair on your offseason racing schedule. If anyone needs a room reservation, please contact The Lantern Lodge and give them the Speedway Entertainment which will be 81.00/ night. The banquet is slated for January 9th, 2010. The 2009 Slingshot by Tobias Special Award Nominees are getting final approval from Rich. After about 4 days of total devotion to what each category represents, we feel this is a pretty good summation of the whole family of drivers and teams and their accomplishments or in some cases their season of hard luck. I will hope to have it for everyone Thurs. We have looked at every track, every tour and every race in getting the nominees for these prestigious awards. We appreciate the support of everyone involved from a one race driver to a full weekend racer. Media awards are also being presented again this year and there are many deserving members of the press that have shown their dedication in getting the Slingshot results, photos and inside scoops to the masses.

This, That, & The Other

 (Issue 44 / 10.22.09)

Myerstown, PA - Oct. 22nd, 2009 (issue 44):  A few things to get your thoughts on and suggestions from. As many of you know I had approached Kutztown. Linda's, Shellhammers and Hamlin about a Tri-Track Series with 2 tracks being used for Saturday racing. If this becomes a definite item, here are some things that I want everyone to know. We are NOT asking for 100% attendance at all 3 tracks used, but the more you attend the higher in points you will be. I'm planning on using a point finish and the number of races run as top priorities for naming a champion.

This year I had given Bridgeport an early season National in hopes that many teams would take advantage of the lack of weekly tracks running at the time and give all teams the early run for points and have a race they could use in case of rainouts. Well right now ,the weather has a chance of eliminating 2 Nationals and a few teams that are having great runs and chances to move up might be without these races. Do I schedule a National early and look bad when only 10 cars show up or will there be enough support to start early and pray for good weather? Between the tolls, pit pass and entry costs for Bridgeport, it looks like if we schedule any races there we will need a paid pre-entry to continue on.

I will be getting banquet arrangements up and running very shortly. Tickets will be getting printed the 1st week of November. For any group that has 6 or more guests and wants a table for themselves, I must know to make sure seating isn't scattered for groups.

Shellhammers will be getting the date for the Rules Meeting very shortly. Please attend. They are working on making it fair for all competitors.

Caroga Creek will be staying with their red seal rule for 2010,if you have metal seals a 1 race grace period was given. Their car counts have grown in the last 3 years. The teching and rules acceptance has seen many teams become regulars knowing that Driver A and Driver B are running the same equipment and driver ability and maintenance are key factors in a winning team. They have accepted a proposed tour race for 2010,date will be determined later.

Christmas Chassis Special, still available for 6 weeks yet. The first 2 ordered are heading out the door tomorrow.

Danny Sammons has assured us that the AC Slingshot entries will be mailed out. Any questions can be directed to him by calling AARN at 609-888-3618.

Button Buck Speedway is looking to honor their champions in all their Slingshot Classes with "Cool Hand" Lucas Schott getting the top award for the regular Slingers.

The Gulf Coast Region has the closest points battle in the history of the Slingshot Regional's with only 36 point separating the top 5 drivers. This will go down to the last lap of the last event slated for next weekend.

The Walkill Slingshot Club is in the midst of some improvements and changes to the track to make this another stop for NY teams.

Bethel Speedway has shown interest in some events as well for the Slingshot racers.

Paradise Speedway has taken the Slingshots off their regular 2010 scheduling, but extend an invitation to have our yearly Super Dirt Week National there in October. The spacious track got more rave reviews from first timers there a few weeks ago.

Selinsgrove would like to have a $1000 to win Slingshot event there in 2010.Entry fee would be higher and car count would have to coincide of what would be paid. I can work on scheduling a separate event for this or make it part of a National .

Here is a question that would like some response. Many teams like to run Selinsgrove ,but do not go to Greenwood Valley for the Saturday event except for the Speedweeks race. Since Hamlin, Borgers, Shellhammers, OVDO and possibly Wyalusing Valley run Saturday nights, should 1 of the Greenwood Valley races be taken off the schedule?

Should the Regional Tour payout be cut back to the top 3 again or does the top 5 payout give some incentive to travel 2 or 3 extra weeks from a regular track?

Thanks for your support. Weather permitting Linda's and Borgers are looking for the talented Slingshot racers to keep the fans entertained and put a show that the Slingshot fans are accustomed to seeing. If Linda's does rain out on Friday, I will be there on Saturday as well as Borgers on Sunday.

Word of advice. It has come to our attention from repair work and also from some used car purchases that there has been some front axle tampering. There is a chance that only front ends will be weighed this weekend to see if you are one of the culprits. Please if asked, cross the scales and comply with the track and tech officials.

Weekend Plans for Nationals & More

 (Issue 43 / 10.21.09)

Myerstown, PA - Oct. 21st, 2009 (issue 43):  Here is what the weather will decide for the weekend Nationals at Linda's and Borgers. Please be advised it is all weather dependent.

Friday: Linda's Super National

Saturday: Linda's Rain date. If Rain date IS NOT Needed, Borgers will run at their regular 5 PM starting time. If Linda's needs the rain date, Borgers will run Sunday afternoon.

Sunday: Only needed if Linda's needs Saturday night. If needed, gates will open at 10 AM, hot laps will be at 1 with qualifying at 2 PM

Both tracks are working with each other in giving the racers 2 separate chances to race, please be supportive of both efforts.

Oakland Valley will be holding their Octoberfest for anyone wanting to race in New York this weekend, also weather permitting.

Linda's Speedway, Borgers Speedway, Gulf Coast Region,

and More Race News & Information

 (Issue 42 / 10.19.09)

Myerstown, PA - Oct. 19th, 2009 (issue 42):   Linda's reserved pit parking will be honored for October 23.  Those teams that purchased a pit parking spot for 2009 will have their reserved pit parking spots. Originally the first 25 Slingshots to enter the Slingshot 50 were to park in the front row, but since the race has been rescheduled and the Micro Sprints are on the program for the make up date their reserved parking spots will be held. Please use the regular Slingshot parking area or your paid spot this Friday. In the event Mother Nature wins again, Saturday night ,the 24th will be used

Borgers Speedway has announced the rain date for the Roy Smith Memorial. In an effort to draw some teams already racing at Linda's on Friday night, Borgers has announced a Sunday afternoon, Oct 25th rain date. Current plans are calling for a basic time schedule of Gates Opening at 10 AM, Hot laps at 1 PM and 1st heat getting underway at 2 PM. The winner of the Roy Smith Memorial will receive at least $555. The travel time is roughly 90 minutes and about 85 miles.

The rebuilt shop engine has been purchased.

Blake Tobias Motorsports is accepting requests for team websites that can be used as a great Christmas present. To discuss a proposal or plan with Blake, you can email him at tobiasized@aol.com.

We will be looking into a Dual Race weekend at NJMP next year which will find the Slingshots taking on the 1/5 Tri-oval one day and the .048 Avenger Road Course the next.

Oakland Valley Dirt Track is also holding their Octoberfest weekend and anyone looking for some racing in the NJ, NY, PA triangle to make a stop at the 1/5 mile in Cuddebackville, NY.

An owner at New Egypt Speedway is also looking for a driver for his team. The driver must be mechanically inclined, have racing experience on multi-sized speedways and be willing to help with a sponsorship package and be willing to travel to an occasional big race. Linda's, Borgers, Kutztown, Empire Region News, National Points Update

 (Issue 40 / 10.14.09)

Myerstown, PA - Oct. 14th, 2009 (issue 40):  Had a nice email from Tom Chorpenning at Linda's and he wants everyone to know that the payout is based on a 40 car entry. Percentage drops will take place per car count under 40.Last year there was 42 cars entered. Entries will be accepted on race night, if you haven't previously pre-entered. The payout is one of the best, not only in the Slingshots in 2009, but many of the 2nd and 3rd division class payouts at many of the bigger tracks in the area. This is a Super National and all positions will be increased by 30 points even DNQ's.

Track conditions have improved dramatically since the early season problems which unfortunately were created by the new surface laid down last Nov. not getting the needed kneading time due to the excessive weather conditions over the winter. Track lighting has been improved, track surface has been improved and the overall running of their race program has seen a much needed boost. Many of the recent programs have seen the checkered thrown at 10: 30 for an all event program. It is up to the drivers to attend the drivers meeting, ask questions if something is vague. Be prepared for a full field weight check and also a chance all cars will have something teched throughout the evening. Tire pressures are checked in the grid.

Tom has also added that there are many other monetary awards that are still be collected with lap money being accepted. If you want to make a lap donation, I can forward this to Tom or see a pit shack official next Friday night. Many teams wanted me to personally thank Tom for allowing the Slingshots a chance to head to Paradise last week without having to worry about quick car repairs or added maintenance. 10 regular Linda's teams made the trip to Paradise with Gary Hieber taking the win over Mike Glass and Cody Kline. Linda's will be adding tour provisional's and track provisional's, be prepared to race. Please give some serious thought about attending this event.

 Borgers Race Reminder

Remember that Borgers will be hosting the Roy Smith Memorial this Saturday night with at least $555 to win and at least 24 cars taking the A Main green.

Kutztown News

Below is the release I got from Brett Deyo at Kutztown. For anyone that wants an early race fix, they run Weds. nights and are done in a very timely manner. Your support will continue to keep the Slingshots as a weekly class and for many, that will be a new place to race. The track is measured as a 1/5 mile. Transponders are used there.

KUTZTOWN, PA - The Kutztown Fairgrounds Speedway 2009 point fund checks will be mailed to top finishers in the 600cc Wingless Micro-Sprint, 270cc Micro-Sprint and Slingshot divisions. The scheduled Awards Banquet for Nov. 20 at C.J. Hummel's in Lenhartsville, Pa., will not be held this year, due to the rain-marred '09 season at the one-fifth-mile clay oval.

"We wanted to end the year with a Banquet, but it's just not feasible this season," Kutztown promoter Kerry Meitzler said. "With all the rain we had, plus starting out so late looking for sponsorship because of negotiations with the fair board, we will mail the racers their money. "Race teams will save money by not having to buy tickets for a Banquet this year."

Racing at Kutztown in 2010 gets underway on May 12 under the leadership of the Meitzler family. The 600cc Micro-Sprints, 270cc Micro-Sprints and Slingshots will be weekly attractions at Kutztown next season, with touring series special events to be determined.
A tentative schedule has been posted at: www.kutztownfairspeedway.com. For more information on Kutztown, call Kerry Meitzler at 610.683.8234 or e-mail Janelle Stump at: racektown@aol.com.

Lawrence Reigns Over the Empire

Katonah, NY's Charlie Lawrence made the Empire Region look like it was designed just for him as the 4NY Slingshot had all the makings of putting Charlie into the Slingshot by Tobias Awards Banquet spotlight as the 2009 Empire Region Champion.

Charlie and his father Randy, Oakland Valley Dirt Oval regulars, decided to branch out their racing schedule in 2009 and made it known early that they could be the team to beat.

3 wins in the 8 race series, assuredly would make it tough for any other challengers to unseat him. Charlie's worse finish actually was the season ender at Paradise when mechanical problems beset the 4NY,but just by showing, was assured of clinching the championship.

His wins at Oakland Valley, Wachusetts Park and Jolly Roger Motopark were a turning point in the chase as these 3 wins in a row, made it clear that the Lawrence 4NY meant business.

The Paradise "Jaunt to Geneva" meant a lot to Arnold Riley as it moved the 87 team driver into the runner-up spot in Empire Region points and will see Arnold collecting a $200 Empire Region tour check for his efforts. Finishing just 41 points behind Arnold was Steve Valkenburg who had the # 32 Slingshot working with a tour win at Paradise in August and his regional award of $125 will be awaiting him at the January 9th Awards Banquet. 38 teams collected Empire Region points, an increase of 4 teams from 2008. The final 2009 Empire Point Standings can be viewed on our Points Page.

Slingshot News & More!  (Issue 39 / 10.13.09)

Myerstown, PA - Oct. 13th, 2009 (issue 39):  This Saturday sees the Slingshot National Tour head to Saylorsburg, PA for the second to last area tour race for 2009.The Roy Smith Memorial has been one of the most hotly contested events in recent years as many teams that are within the Elite 11 make a point of putting their best efforts forward for this race. With a winners payout of at least $555,this race will have some much needed points on the line. This race is dedicated to someone who devoted his life to racing as his # 555 was driven to wins and many top finishes with some of the northeast's top drivers getting seat time. The Roy Smith Memorial is more than a race, it is a tribute to racing in general and everyone that will be competing will be giving it everything they have to win this prized event.

The next weekend it's off to Jonestown, PA as Tom Chorpenning and the Linda's staff will hopefully beat Mother Nature to present the 'Battle by the Interstate" on Friday Oct. 23rd. Entries will be accepted race night with all teams entered preparing for the 50 lap run to the checkered paying at least $1000 to win. Saturday Oct. 24th has been designated as the rain date in case Mother Nature takes her 11th Linda's win for 2009.It is an honor just to make this race as some of the toughest National Tour qualifying takes place during this event. For anyone wanting more details please check out www.lindasspeedway.com

The Gulf Coast will be bringing the season to a close as the Florida, GA and AL racers had a fairly race free season with a few of the later season's scheduled races being lost to weather. Robby Sweeten, Jason Ford, Harold Bedell, Branden Clauss are trying to lock themselves into a Regional paying position with 5th place still up for grabs.

The Christmas Chassis Special has really taken everyone by surprise as over 18 calls have been taken regarding this offer. The bumper trade-off has sparked even more interest with teams forsaking the bumper and side rail package for a Swing Arm and the added $75 surcharge.

For anyone that follows racing in general, the boss, had another great run during the Super Dirt Week Rite Aid 200 bringing the Lineman / Cenco Heating USA-1 to a fine 5th place finish after experiencing left rear shock problems around lap 60 and a helmet visor that would not snap sending Rich to the ambulance after the race was over for a full face eyewash. Rich won the Last Chance Race also won the Hard Charger Award, so it was a successful weekend for them.

Sorry, I did not make the Paradise race, I was at Syracuse as a credentialed press member and was covering the 358 and Sportsman races which did not get over until after 7:45.If anyone has a full field rundown from Paradise please get it to me. Rich left without getting the official finish. I would like to get the points updated for the National and the Empire Region which is final after Paradise.

Many tracks are looking to have a night that showcases the Slingshots in 2010 with a nice payout to reward the teams for their hard work and dedication. Please support these races. They are working to give back to the teams, please support the speedways.

I will be working on the 2010 schedule soon and hope to have dates in line for approval by mid-November. I keep getting comments about giving teams different races to race at and then when we do car counts are below standards.

Caroga Creek had a great season this year with an average car count of 18 Slingshots. If you are in the Albany area and are looking for a racing venue in 2010,try Caroga Creek.

Dunnhill 2 Speedway is located about 20 minutes from Wyalusing and is looking at having the Slingshots there for a few back to back races during 2010.If anyone is interested please contact the speedway. Website  is www.dunnhill2speedway.com.

AC Indoor entries are ready for all interested teams to fill out. The entries can be gotten from www.aarn.com.

I will be having an announcers show on my next BCTV airing of Strapped In on Oct. 28th.Currently Brett Deyo, Mark Stufflet and Pete Knappenberger have accepted. Awaiting a reply from Barry Angstadt. The show will be aired live Oct 28th from 9 to 10 with viewer call-ins accepted at 610-378-0426.The show can also be seen on a live stream at www.bctv.org.

Slingshot News & More  (Issue 38 / 10.05.09)

Myerstown, PA - Oct. 5th, 2009 (issue 38):  For anyone that missed the NJMP Taming the Avenger 20 you missed a great time and some good tight racing on the .48 mile road course. Congrats to Randy Smith, Kyle Hieber and Matt Dealaman on strong runs for the top 3 spots. The 20 lap main was run in 16 min and 9 seconds with Gary Hieber setting fast time with speeds over 41 MPH. We were notified that we are only the 3rd organization to get a payout with the other 2 being ARCA and the SCCA. There are plans for a 2 day event in 2010 with the 1/5 mile tri-oval and the road course used for a full 2 days of racing.

Thanks for everyone that ventured there with positive comments coming from the owners and managers of the complex. Thanks for the cooperation from the drivers, crews and families for making this a success. I enjoyed flagging this event and no one tried to run me over.

Special thanks to Becky Kosch for her great lens work. Photos can be seen on the our website, and you can order copies by clicking on the BK Photos Logo.

The shop will be closed Thurs and Friday due to many of us heading to Super Dirt Week and also the Paradise National on Saturday night. Empire Region points will end with the Paradise National as Charlie Lawrence will lay claim to the championship with other spots still up for grabs. All the Super Dirt Week qualifiers will be held Friday with the 200 running Sunday afternoon. Rooms are still available up there for anyone wanting to make a complete race weekend out of it. Paradise is about 40 minutes from Syracuse with the track being about 2 miles right off the NY Thruway. Paradise starts their racing at 6 PM, last year the dual heat format was used with a heads up start from the heat totals. www.paradisespeedway.net for more. Just got off the phone with Gary at Paradise. He will start all entered cars in the A Main up to 36 cars. Pit Passes will be $10.Car entry is $30.Gates open at 3:30.Practice begins at 5 with 2 rounds of practice for the Slingshots. Qualifying for all classes begins at 6.For some of you this will be the largest dirt track you will race your Slingshot on, be prepared for some great side-by-side and 3 wide racing.

I will contact Tom Chorpenning regarding the rain makeup for Fridays canceled show. Many teams already had room reservations for the trip up north and from checking the points 1 spot can only be changed at Linda's, as I hope to know tomorrow.

The Christmas Slingshot offer has drawn a lot of attention and Rich has decided to give everyone a choice of deleting the bumper package for a Swing Arm with an additional $75.00 being added. For more, please call 717-866-7450 to discuss this with Rich further..

The Gulf Coast Region is seeing their point season coming to a close at the end of October with many new teams becoming instant win challengers and the growth of Slingshots in Central FL is ever increasing.

The Walkill Slingshot Club is looking at using Nov 7th as the date for the Year End Invitational. All top 5 drivers in each region as well as the top 12 in National points and all track champions will be invited. Entry fee and pit pass costs are being worked out.

In an effort to speed up the figuring out of National Points, I am asking for anyone with access to track points to get them to me ASAP, if your point season has been completed.

Linda's will have their Super National made up on Oct. 23rd.

Snydersville beat the weather on Friday night with 10 cars signed in and Kurt Bettler taking the win. A nice car count at Borgers saw Alex Hoffmaster take the checkered as Ricky Raisner won the Junior main. Kenney Johnson continues to amaze at OVDO with another Jr. tally as RJ Smykla could be setting a track record for most wins in a season.

Congrats to all track champions, regional points champions and everyone that saw victory lane or had a stellar racing season. Thanks to everyone that has taken even 1 lap on the track in 2009.The season still has a few events to be a part of.

I will be proposing a plan for a Tri-Track Mini Series in 2010,even though 4 tracks will be asked and if accepted used, it will be the Saturday night track that will vary. Kutztown, Linda's, Shellhammers and Hamlin will be involved if accepted when asked.

For anyone planning a trip to OVDO for their Octoberfest here is the rundown.

Slingshots Get Some Attention (Issue 37 / 10.05.09)

Myerstown, PA - Oct. 5th, 2009 (issue 37):  Here is a letter that was sent to some business owners and friends in support of a local driver at Sumter County. Special thanks to Harold Bedell for taking the time to improve the relations between sponsors and race teams and giving them an insight of what happens at a Slingshot racing event. A great idea to get new fans and sponsors at the same time.

Greetings, Fellow Race Fans:

We’re planning a carpool trip to Sumter Motorsports Park Saturday, October 17. This trip is the replacement for the rained out September 5 trip over to the Fruitland Park kart track, and will include a sponsorship deal with Slingshot driver Harold Bedell. Here are the details:

·         Meet at Laurel Manor at 3:45 PM, with carpool to leave for SMP at 4:00 pm. (travel time is about 30 minutes)
·         Admission price is $5.00.
o   For anyone wearing the number 24 (Harold’s car number), the full $5 will go into the sponsorship fund for Harold.
o   For all others, $3 of the $5 will go into the sponsorship fund for Harold.
·         Racing starts at 5:00 PM.
·         Food is available at the track, no coolers are allowed in the stands.
·         As soon as we’re organized in the stands, Harold will drop by for a meet-and-greet and to share his forecast for the evening.
·         After chatting with Harold, we’ll meet at his car and put our logos on his wing. (They’ll really standout, since there’s nothing else on the car but his number!)

Please let me (either email or call XXX-XXXX) or Wendy (either email or call XXX-XXXX)  know if you plan to attend so we can let the track know.

Come out and see some great racing at this local track, and join in the sponsorship deal for Harold! It’s a fun night, at a very modest price.

One thing that was relayed to me from the promotional team is that everyone must attend the drivers meeting. The payoff is listed on their website and is very good throughout the field.

New Jersey Motorsports Track Insight (Issue 35 / 10.02.09)

Myerstown, PA - Oct. 2nd, 2009 (issue 35):  With the weather looking so much better for tomorrow, it looks like the Taming the Avenger 20 will see most of, if not, all, the action under clearing skies. It's a great way to experience something new with road course racing very demanding and it will definitely bring out the driver's true driving abilities.

Here is the actual link to what the track will consist of:  http://www.njmp.com/tracks.html

The track we will be using is the track on the left side, it is listed as The Avenger.

I have been asked to be the starter for this event and also looking at having Becky Kosch as our photographer for this event. If you have any photo needs for your sponsors or for your personal collection, please see Becky for on track and any other car and driver or team shots you might want. I will be having my camera along, but will be concentrating on the happenings on the speedway. We are looking at having the top 5 times posted at the track access from the pits to keep everyone informed during the 2 - 20 minute timed practices.

I have contacted the NJMP directors about also giving us some website coverage and that could be a possibility.

All cars entered will be qualified, there is still time to get prepared and enter this race.  All teams, crews, family and fans are to sign-in exclusively at the Slingshot window at the registration building. Passes are good for the full day, also the Vintage Racers exhibition is included as well as the karting areas.

Schedule for Saturday as of 8 AM Friday:

Thanks so much to everyone that will be supporting this. With other racing in the complex ,there is a chance for some TV coverage, please be ready.

More Info on Possible TV Coverage

I had contacted CBS (KYW) 3 and ABC (WPVI) 6 about our race tomorrow at NJMP. Got a response from both saying that if there is any other breaking news in the area, they would gladly stop in to do some filming. CBS 3 said if their regional sports reporter can rearrange some scheduling times,he would like to stop in and possibly take a filmed lap or 2 around the Avenger Road Course. We will just have to wait and see if anything comes of this. Can't say I'm not trying. My point was that all of the teams entered are within the viewing audience and it would be a good feeling airing for everyone.

Wachusett Valley Exhibition Race Date & Info (Issue 34 / 09.29.09)

Since this is a non-points race it would be an excellent time for any JR's looking to move up to try the SR division.

The track is located at 783 Spring Street in Winchendon Ma.

This track got rave reviews from the competitors that went there in July. They are looking to expand their horizons and bring in enough interest to get a Slingshot class started with their local teams looking for another form of racing. I realize that the Paradise National and Super Dirt Week is that weekend, but if anyone wants a chance to venture out or give the Juniors another track to work out their talents on, it's worth the time and effort. It is also relatively close to the Basketball Hall of Fame if anyone wants to make a mini-vacation out of it.

Weekend Racing Recap Plus More News (Issue 33 / 09.28.09)

Myerstown, PA - Sept. 28th, 2009 (issue 33):  News from Linda's for a Super National make-up date should be soon forthcoming.

Snydersville Raceway is announcing a just proposed $500 to win Slingshot race this Friday night with sponsorship from Hammer down Dyno Service and Elite Pool Service.

There is also a Hard Charger Award and a Hard Luck Award also available at the payoff window. This is based on a 10 car entry with added entries tentatively putting more into the total purse. There are no Slingshot Regional or National points involved in this event. You are running for the money only...which is a good thing.

A conference call today from the NJMP will finalize all plans for this weekend's "Taming the Avenger 20" which will be run rain or shine Saturday October 3rd,unless puddles develop, which will see the race red flagged until track can be made race able again, pending lateness of hour. All cars entered will qualify for the A Main. Still accepting entries.

Gulf Coast Region still has 2 races remaining on their 2009 schedule with the teams trying to catch up to current point leader Robby Sweeten. With 14 teams running the last event and the proposal of a season ending national returning to the Talladega Short Track for 2010,things look promising for at least 24 cars taking the green there at the 1/5 mi and 1/3 mi on back to back nights.

Still time to head to tracks that still have some races on the board with Snydersville, OVDO, Borgers, Walkill, Sumter Co and Linda's still hosting the Slingshots.

Looking into a Tri-Track Series next year, with Kutztown, Linda's and Shellhammers being the participants with a point fund coming from these 3 tracks. I will be discussing this with them more in detail later.

Don't forget AC is coming up in 4 months with entries being accepted via the www.aarn.com website.

Billy Maynard at Wyalusing Valley is giving the Juniors a chance to run for some good money.

This Sunday's Nightmare Open at WVMP is guaranteeing $150 to win for Jr. Slingshots, regardless of car count. $200 to win for the seniors, jumping to $300 with 16 cars or more.

For more information, please check our website at www.wvmpracing.com.

The Walkill Slingshot Club is looking at having a Champions / Winners Classic on November 7th at the newly constructed track for Regional / Weekly Track and National winners, champions and point contenders.

I'll be making the final payout and time schedule arrangements with Tommy Perrego. He said the track is about 90 minutes from the Albany area and about 2.75 hours from Kutztown. We are looking at having 20 cars start the 30 lap A Main. If invited, please try to give a yes or no answer so we can move to the next driver in line. Trying to make this similar to the Winners Classic we had at Reading 2 October's ago. Tommy is interested in wondering if a Junior race would be an idea many of the teams would like to be a part of. Any track legal Junior with the 1 bbl. carb and 685 weight limit would be welcomed.
